Selected Sites

After 2 months of listening, meeting, researching, and exploring Deanwood, Capitol View, Lincoln Heights, Grant Park, and Richardson Dwellings, we've geared up and activated your neighborhoods!

State Farm Building

It is a highly travelled thoroughfare in the neighborhood, so great visibility. Illustrates a way that static public space can become a tool and a resource for the community.

Creative Placemaking

Menick's Market

There is little economic development in these neighborhoods. Menick’s is one of very few stores in the area where residents can buy food and resources. And there is no open space in the area for vendors to freely create, collaborate, and develop their economic footings in the community. This is an opportunity for businesses and artists to support one another, while also adding value to the community.

Creative Placemaking

Triangle Park

This park is an example of an underutilized space in the city. Spaces like these can be activated with seating, play structures, and arts and culture interventions that add value to the community. This is an opportunity for residents to engage this space in a new way, and be more encouraged to explore their community.

Ward 7 Speaks
From Deanwood

If I had access to a theatre I could start theatre in the community kids love tp perform. Theatre art is much needed.

From Capitol View

Central avenue connects the capitol view neighborhood to the library, butterfly park, metro, and Benning Road commercial area but is unsafe to travel - high speeds, narrow sidewalks that are not ADA compliant.

From Deanwood

It would be nice to have more block parties in ward 7. I would like to have showings of movies for families to come and get to know each other.
